AIHRC inaugurated a monument, which was decorated with human rights message, in the compound of Medical Institute, Kabul University.

During the 10 December, 60th Anniversary of UDHR, the AIHRC also celebrated the National Day of Human Rights Violations in Afghanistan, which was named based on the Action Plan entitled ‘Peace, Justice, and Reconciliation’ by the Afghan Government and endorsement of the President.

 
 
 

 

 

how doctors and their medical staff transported, on their shoulders, those patients who needed operation from the war zone in midnight. For over 72 hours surgeons and medical staff were involved in operations and medical treatment of war wounded people.
At the library of the Medical Institute a photo exhibition on hopes and fears of women and children was also inaugurated, which will be open for visitors for a week, since 10 Dec. A wide range of AIHRC’s publications were distributed during the ceremony to all invitees.

   

 

Victims were provided a chance to talk and share their stories of suffering and pains with the audiences. The victims were victimized during the Communist Regime, Mujahhid Time, and the Taliban Period. One of the victims lost her three fingers, as it was difficult for a fighter to quickly take out a golden ring from her hand. Her fingers were therefore cut by a machete as a price for the golden ring. Another victim lost his family member,
brother, and still waiting to receive any news. Cannot organize a condolence ceremony to make sure that he was not alive any...

AIHRC, Awareness Raising Campaign from 20 Nov -10 Dec. 2007 
 

The AIHRC for celebration of the Universal Children's Day (20 Nov) and the International day of Elimination of Violence Against Women (25 Nov), opens a photo exhibition of 200 photos. These photos show the actual situation of the women and children: Their hopes and their fears, in addition publications of AIHRC and around 7 other  Civil Society organization was  displayed and distributed.  

The AIHRC , in close collaboration with Afghan and international civil society institutions, organizes a three week campaign from 20 Nov. to 10 December, the Human Rights Day. Throughout the campaign period various awareness initiatives, including training workshops, seminars, round tables, radio and TV programmes and clips, distribution of a divers rang of human rights publications, fixing banners of HR, photo and painting exhibitions, and human rights messages on stopping forced marriages on bill boards, and interviews are initiated.

The AIHRC assisted the Medical University to renovate a historical monument within the Medical University compound to carry human rights messages on health and human rights. It is in three languages Pashto, Dari and Uzbek. The monument will be inaugurated on 10 December.

The AIHRC publishes all international conventions and treaties, to which Afghanistan is a party, in colorful pocket size booklets highlighting the main obligations of signatory members and the basic and standard human rights values and principles considered by the respected treaty members.

The AIHRC, for the very first time, publishes the human rights calendar, which highlights the international human rights day with brief history of the days.

  The AIHRC also in close collaboration with the Afghanistan Pen Association celebrated the 800th anniversary of Mawlana Jalaluddin Balkhi/Romi, in which over 200 scholars and writes were invited throughout the country. The Conference them was Human Dignity in Mawlana's Poetry.

For celebration of 16 November, the international Day of Tolerance, the AIHRC published brochures and poster in both Pashto and Dari languages, which are widely distributed.

The AIHRC in honour of H.E Louis Arbour, High Commissioner for Human Rights, while visiting Afghanistan, organized a reception on 19 November, in which government officials, members of the Parliament, representatives of Civil society, women's rights activists, and political missions of international community were invited. Views on transitional justice, women's rights in Afghanistan, human rights as an  agenda for Afghan Government, and concerns over civilian casualties were expressed.

The AIHRC conduct a round table meeting on 21 Nov 2007, to launch a report  on family law in context of Islam. The report explain measures taken by other Islamic countries like Bangaladish, Malisya, Pakistan and Egypt on major family rights to Marriage, Divorce, Polygamy, child custody.

AIHRC on occasion of 20th Nov conduct a contest among children which was broadcasted through National TV. In this contest around 400 children mainly from Ashiana, orphanages, and street working children were participated.
