During the 10 December, 60th Anniversary of UDHR,
the AIHRC also celebrated the National Day of Human Rights
Violations in Afghanistan, which was named based on the
Action Plan entitled Peace, Justice, and Reconciliation by
the Afghan Government and endorsement of the President.
Victims were provided a chance to talk and share their
stories of suffering and pains with the audiences. The
victims were victimized during the Communist Regime,
Mujahhid Time, and the Taliban Period. One of the victims
lost her three fingers, as it was difficult for a fighter to
quickly take out a golden ring from her hand. Her fingers
were therefore cut by a machete as a price for the golden
ring.
Another victim lost his family member, his brother, and
still waiting to receive any news. Cannot organize a
condolence ceremony to make sure that he was not alive any
more, as they have no any information about him. It is
almost over twenty years, since the Communist regime, they
wait for news to come.
A young Maulawi, who is now very much traumatized, lost his
eye during the Taliban period. He was severely treated and
tortured by Taliban. He himself is a Pashtun.
The President acknowledged that still there are human rights
violations going on, and in the coming future it might not
be possible to deal with the transitional justice.
Many audiences expressed their demands for justice and
tougher stance from the President towards warlords and human
rights violators.
Three National human rights awards were presented to Mrs.
Horia Mosadiq for her dedicate to Human Rights and
Transitional Justice, Mawla jan Shinwari for banning BAD
for any dispute resolution by Jirgas under his
constituency, and martyred Ajmal Naqshbandi for his
innocence and sincerity & committed media work and firmness
for freedom of expression.
