AIHRC�s press release on assassination of Abdul Samad Rohani a BBC reporter in Helman

The Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) is strongly condemning the horrific crime and vicious murder of Mr. Abdul Samad Rohani a journalist working for Pashto service of BBC that happened on the 8 of June in Helmand province, and offer the deepest condolences to his family, relatives, his colleagues and other journalists all over the country.
The Commission is deeply touched and worried about ever-increasing of such incidents that curbs and limits the scope of activities for media.

The Commission is calling on the Government of Afghanistan to take necessary action and follow up the case, and punish the perpetrators of this crime, and demands the government to take practical action in accordance to national and international commitments provide better facilities for media and ensure security and freedom of activities for the journalists.
