AIHRC Expresses its Concern on Condition of Foreign Hostages in Afghanistan

The Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) seriously condemns taking foreign civilians hostage in Afghanistan.

The Commission believes that the use of civilian life for terror, military and political purposes does not conform to Islamic, Afghan and human rights principles. This act will put the values of Afghanistans rich culture under question.

The Commission calls on the Government, the United Nations and the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) to employ all their facilities to resolve the issue of hostage-taking and to prevent the reoccurrence of such actions against Afghan nationals and foreigners.

The Commission further urges those responsible for the kidnappings, in this holy month of Ramadan, to release the hostages and ensure their mental and physical safety.
