Killing of civilian in Spin Boldak of Kandahar province is and explicit crime against
humanity and a clear violence of international humanitarian laws.

On Friday 17 Jadi 1389 (7, Januray 2010), a suicide attack happened in a public
bathroom in Spinboldak district of Kandahar province in which a number of Afghan
civilian were killed and injured.
By issuing this press release, AIHRC expresses its sympathy and condolences to the
distressed families and wish quick recovery for the wounded,
In this series of attacks happened in a civilian public bathroom in Boldak district of
Kandahar province based on the latest report received by the Commission 16 civilians
were killed and 33 civilians are injured.
Even though, these attacks have taken place in a way that is contrary to the principles of
sacred religion of Islam, most of the victims are civilians.
The AIHRC while strictly condemning the direct attacks on civilians and populated
residential areas inside the city and districts considers such actions unjustifiable in any
way, and calls on the armed opposition of the government not to attack on civilians and
populated civilian areas.
Since in this suicide attack happened on 17 Jadi 1389 (7 January, 2011) in a public
bathroom in Spin Boldak district National and International Humanitarian Laws (Geneva
conventions) are plainly violated, the AIHRC is seriously concerned in this regard and
calls on Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and UN not to spare any cooperation and
endeavor to bring the perpetrators of this horrible crime (crime against humanity) to
justice.
