Suicide attacks carried out in Imam-i Zaman Mosque in Kabul City and in another Mosque in Dawlana district of Ghor province
AIHRC while strongly condemning these attacks, which caused the deaths and injuries of a large number of civilians, expresses its concern over the increase of civilian casualties.
Targeting holy places (Mosques) and civilian population is an inhuman act that is explicitly in conflict with the provisions of the holy religion of Islam, national laws and International Humanitarian Law (IHL).
AIHRC calls on the anti-government armed groups to avoid targeting holy places and civilians, and try to respect the IHL (Principle of Distinction, Proportionality and precaution) and its Optional Protocol. And do not commit further war crimes and systematic violations of international humanitarian law.
AIHRC also calls on the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, especially the security and defense forces of the country, to provide security for the holy places and prayers, identify the perpetrators of such crimes and bring them to justice, and provide the necessary assistance to the victims of the incident.
