The AIHRC awarded Ms. Roya Rahmani with the National Human Rights Award for her dedication and commitment to human rights and particularly to women's rights. Ms. Roya Rahmani, while working as director of Rights and Democracy, proved to be very active and steady in promotion and protection of women's rights in Afghanistan. No one in the rights groups and civil society institutions in the country could ignore her instrumental contributions towards the new draft of the 'Family Law' and ' Marriage Registration' document. The AIHRC while congratulating her for the national human rights awards appreciates her work as an inspiration for human rights activists and civil society advocates. The award was presented to Ms. Roya Rahmani in a farewell party organized for her honor by the Afghan Civil Society Forum (ACSF) on 3 June 2007.
