The Afghanistan government must respect and pay attention to
victims and those who suffered losses due to horrific crimes
committed during war and oppression.
The Afghanistan Independent Human Rights
Commission pays its cordial and deepest respect to over 120 unknown
martyrs and victims of massacres, who were atrociously buried in a
mass grave in Qarukh plain of Badakhshan province, and regards
disclosure of this mass grave as one of the clear signs of injustice
and criminal atrocities of the last two decades exerted to Afghan
people.
On 15/01/1386 (4/4/07) in Qarukh plain of
Badakhshan, a mass grave of over 120 innocent martyred countrymen,
as a result of a massacre, unearthed by local population and police.
The initial investigation of the Commission
indicates that most of these people were Mojahiddin and opposition
of the ex-government in 1357 (1978), who were, after arrest, by
massacred by local government and party. So far, three of them are
identified by their family members.
The Afghanistan Independent Human Rights
Commission believes that identifying and discovering of such crimes
doubles the need for justice and truth seeking process on the causes
and occurrence of these crimes.
The Afghanistan Independent Human Rights
Commission calls on the Afghan Government, in order to pay tribute
to the souls of the victims, to take immediate and urgent necessary
measures for the implementation of the Islamic Republic of
Afghanistans Action Plan on Peace, Justice, and Reconciliation.
