AIHRC supports the trail of former Afghan intelligence officers in the Netherlands

The trial of Hesamuddin Hesam and Habibullah Jalalzoy, two ex-officers of the intelligence agency KHAD during the regime of Babrak and Najib and accused of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity, by the Netherlands justice authorities is a promising event that provides fresh assurance to the victims of war and violence and to the human rights protection institutions.

Welcoming and supporting this action, the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) hopes that this trial, after the conviction of Zardad in London, sets another example for justice authorities in the countries where the perpetrators of crimes against humanity have taken refuge.

The people of Afghanistan, who have often been the victims of human rights abuse, demand justice and these measures promote their feeling of security.

The Commission wishes that the continuation of such measures will reduce the cases of human rights violation and will put an end to the culture of impunity in Afghanistan.
