This center
started its activities in November 2003 and most
of its resources have been donated by USAID and
the remaining available equipments and materials
have been prepared by the Commission itself.
Available
technical materials and equipments in the
resource center:
1- The library:
More than three thousand volumes of books in
Dari, Pushto, Arabic and English languages, on
various subjects such as history, philosophy,
politics, law, culture, social sciences and a
great number of them on human rights in English
language are available in the library and they
are put at the disposal of the commission's
staff and outside researchers every day on
official hours. In addition to the available
books, collections of various newspapers,
magazines and other publications of different
organizations are available in this library. The
activities of the library are going on according
to the regulations prepared by the center and
approved by the commission.
2- Fortunately,
the library is equipped with three sets of
computers, which are connected to the world
interknit, so that the researchers can have an
access to various international websites.
Utilization of the interknit system is
accortling to a preplanned timetable and the
identity of the users and the subject of
research are registered. The out come of their
research are also being registered in the
registration book of the library. In case of
need, copies of their research are kept in our
archive for future use.
3- Technical
materials and equipments.
Video camera,
digital camera, overhead projector, power point
projector, video CD, radio cassette recorder,
amplifier, different types microphones,
loudspeakers, lights, tripods, headphones,
stabilizers in different capacities, LaserJet
and desk Jet printers, copier, scanner, and some
other office equipments are available in the
resource center. These equipments are used for
the following activities:
Audio visual
section: All subjects and materials included in
the program called ROUSHANI which are produced
by the audio visual section for broadcast on the
national TV bimonthly are facilitated by the
equipments and materials available in the
resource center and also other documentaries,
recorded announcements and interviews, prepared
for broadcasting are given to the section
responsible and a copy of them are kept in the
archive. It is worth mentioning that for
production of such programs a small studio has
been established inside the resource center.
Also six documentary films ordered and produced
by financial assistance of this commission are
available in the resource center, which are
showed through workshops and other mass media.
Likewise, news
and picture packages from workshops, seminars,
meetings and celebration of special days inside
and outside the commission are prepared and
rendered to the program in charge to be
broadcast through TV news and a copy of them are
kept in our archive for future use. Similarly,
other equipments and facilities such as
projectors, TV, video, CD sets, slogans, charts,
pictures, and a number of films and CDs on human
rights violations from other parts of the world
are available in this center. Likewise, the
necessary documents and handouts for the
workshops and seminars are photocopied and put
at their disposal.
The resource
center of the commission prepare photos from
workshops and official meetings held in the
commission; and after completing its report, a
copy of them are put on exhibition on the notice
board to reflect the activities of this
commission, or if necessary a copy of them are
sent to be published in the monthly Human
Rights. Software of the photos is kept in our
archive.
The resource
center of the Afghan Independent Human Rights
Commission carries out its duties according to
its job description and with a great sense of
confidentiality, observation of group work
policy, and does not refrain from close
cooperation with all other units of the
commission. The center is trying very hard for
enrichment of its resources and has arranged its
facilities and equipments in very easy
accessible system. In addition the center
enc9urages the staff to use these facilities,
and dispatches a copy of the needed materials to
the satellite offices on time.
