Suicide attack in Wazir Akbar Khan area of Kabul City

AIHRC while strongly condemning the suicide attack in Wazir Akbar Khan area of Kabul City in which many civilian people were killed or injured, including women and children, expresses its sympathy and condolence to the bereaved families of the victims and prays for the speedy recovery of those injured. AIHRC reiterates its concern over the increase in civilian casualties in the country.

Attacks against civilian and public places is an inhuman and illegal act, and a clear violation of Human Rights, National laws and International Humanitarian Law and the provisions of the sacred religion of Islam.

AIHRC calls on the anti-government armed groups to respect human rights and consider the principle of distinction, proportionality and precaution, and avoid attacking civilian individuals and public places.

AIHRC urges the Afghan government, particularly the security forces and judiciary organs of the country to further endeavor to safeguard and protect the lives of the Afghan citizens and try to identify the perpetrators of such despicable acts and bring them to justice, and ensure payment of a fair compensation to the victims of such incidents.
