Civilian Casualties caused by International Forces Airstrike in Sayedabad District of Maidan Wardak Province


As a result of an air raid carried out by international forces seven members of a family were killed in Jozerin village of Sayedabad district of Maidan Wardak at 09:00 PM on Sunday night, September 8, 2019.


The attack was carried out by a drone, on a vehicle carrying civilians to their home from a party.
The AIHRC believes that such inattention and carelessness on the part of the international military forces would result in people's wrath and anger and would pose serious challenges to their mission in Afghanistan.


The AIHRC while strongly condemning this terrible incident, calls on the government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to conduct a thorough investigation into this incident and ask the senior international military officials in Afghanistan for the required explanations that why such events happen repeatedly in the country.


According to the AIHRC, and on based on international humanitarian law, no damage to defenseless civilians is admissible, and the AIHRC strongly urges the International Military Authorities to apologize for the event and to pay compensation to the victims' families, and to guarantee that their military operations do not harm civilian population in the future.
